Canterbury: self-employed dog walker for a city of students and commuters
Canterbury has two universities, a lot of rented housing and a lot of owners who are out all day, and no WoofWalk walker yet. We would like three: one in the city, one covering Whitstable and Herne Bay, one for the villages to the south.
WoofWalk is a UK app that connects a dog owner with a walker or sitter who lives nearby. You work for yourself through it as a self-employed walker: your prices, your availability and your choice of bookings are all yours. Owners book and pay through the app; you get paid out afterwards. There is no wage and no guaranteed work; we do not employ you.
We have not researched Canterbury prices yet; nationally, public listings put an hour's walk around £15 and a drop-in visit at £10 to £20. You decide your own.
Westgate Gardens, the Stour riverside and Blean Woods are the obvious grounds, with the beaches at Whitstable and Herne Bay out of season.
Joining is free. The first 14 days are commission-free, then 15% comes off each booking, dropping to 10% for life after five clients have joined through you. Tax, National Insurance and insurance are things you arrange for yourself.
Students between lectures and anyone free in the middle of the day will find this fits. Over 18.
