Flats, long working days and frequent trips away: that is life for a lot of Brighton and Hove owners. What they want is somebody who comes to the dog rather than a kennel that takes it in. That is what this advert is about, and it is separate from our dog-walking one. We want three self-employed pet sitters.
You would look after a dog in the owner's own home: visits through the day, nights in the flat or house, or a week's cover. Stick to the routine the owner sets out, walk the dog, keep it company and send a daily update.
Be clear on one point. WoofWalk does not employ you, pay you a wage or guarantee work; it is a booking app. Fees per visit and per night are set by you. Payment passes from the owner through the app to your bank. Tax, National Insurance and insurance remain yours to deal with.
Public sitter listings here show a home visit at about £14.50 and a night of home boarding at about £40, higher than in most cities.
Dogs staying in your own home count as home boarding: you need a licence from the council first, and the app lists it separately. The owner's own flat or house needs no licence.
The first 14 days cost you nothing, and joining is free. Afterwards WoofWalk takes 15% of each booking, or 10% for life once five of your own clients have joined through you. Bring your own clients and they pay 10% from their first booking onward.
