Responsibilities
- Support callers experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Reassure a parent whose child has had a minor head injury.
- Assist someone with a sore throat or toothache.
- Respond calmly and effectively to someone having a stroke or heart attack.
- Handle a wide variety of calls with emotional resilience and manage the pressures of supporting people in often stressful or distressing situations.
Important Information
- Position is office‑based at the Otterbourne location; remote or home working is not available.
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Fixed part‑time rotas are available.
- Upcoming training course in March 2026.
Training and Development
Full 6‑week training program including NHS Pathways (the clinical assessment tool we use); you will gain the necessary skills to assess patients’ needs and provide the best possible care.
Compensation & Benefits
- Contract: Permanent part‑time
- Pay scheme: ÂŁ24,937 to ÂŁ26,598 a year pro rata, per annum
- Band 3
- Hourly rate: £12.75 per hour (plus 35% for midnight‑to‑midnight Saturday shifts, 35% + 34% for midnight‑to‑midnight Sunday & public holiday shifts).

Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Good all‑round education (e.g., 2 GCSEs equivalent to grade 4 or above including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Experience in a customer/patient services environment, dealing with the general public.
- Experience of using a computerised system.
- Experience of using a telephone as a regular means of communication in a work environment.
- Required: Ability to support people in stressful situations.
- Desirable: NHS Pathways trained, NVQ 2/3 in Customer Services, experience in a call centre, geographical knowledge of operational area, rotating shift experience, voluntary or health sector experience, patient care experience, knowledge of first aid and/or anatomy.
Assessment Process
