At NHS 111, you\’ll handle a wide variety of calls β€” no two days are ever the same. This role requires emotional resilience and the ability to manage the pressures that come with supporting people in often stressful or distressing situations. Main duties

You do not need to have a medical background, just a desire to help. You\’ll need to be detailed and efficient, assertive but compassionate. Looking after yourself and caring for the team around you should also be a priority. We offer a full 6-week training program including NHS Pathways (the clinical assessment tool we use) and following training, you will have the necessary skills to assess the needs of the patients to give the best possible care.

Important information

  • This is an office-based position at our Otterbourne location; remote or home working is not available.
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Fixed part-time rotas are available based on current service needs.
  • We\’re welcoming new team members for our upcoming training course in March 2026.

Benefits

  • All day Saturday (midnight to midnight) as well as any weekday after 8pm and before 6am – Time plus 35% (Currently Β£17.26 per hour)
  • All day Sunday and public holidays (midnight to midnight) – Time plus 69% (Currently Β£21.61 per hour)

Job description

Essential qualifications and training
Good all-round education (i.e. 2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience. For safeguarding reasons this role is only open to people aged over 18.

Desirable
NHS Pathways Trained; NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent

Knowledge and experience
Experience in a customer/patient services environment; experience using computerised systems; experience using a telephone as a regular means of communication in a work environment.

Desirable
Experience in a call centre environment; geographical knowledge of the operational area; experience of rotating shifts; experience in voluntary or health sector; patient care; first aid or anatomy knowledge.
