A leading contract manufacturer of personal care and cosmetic products based in the Lancashire region are currently partnered with Woodstock Recruitment to assist in their search for a Procurement Manager.

Renowned for excellent staff retention and one of the few companies in the industry showing consistent growth, the successful candidate will join a cohesive team with impressive manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, gain agreement to, manage and implement category sourcing strategies.
  2. Investigate and monitor supply market trends and evaluate/select appropriate suppliers who can support the business needs.
  3. Formally assess new suppliers against pre-defined risk assessment criteria.
  4. Plan and execute data collection focused on understanding supplier costs, capabilities and commitments.
  5. Evaluate objective vendor performance and take action to develop, improve or remove suppliers.
  6. Support the NPD process as required, taking responsibility for costing sheet compilation and management, including the identification of relevant suppliers and products that offer the best solution for product development and the customer.
  7. Develop proposals for review with Production Management, R&D and Quality functions, regarding supplier approvals/specification changes which will reduce risk or cost or add value.
  8. Assist the business in the resolution of critical/repetitive reject and return issues.
  9. Ensure that there is a formal sign-off for the change of product from one supplier to another, or the introduction of a new component or supplier.
  10. Establish MOQs that do not leave the company at significant risk of obsolete write-offs.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in an FMCG business is essential, ideally personal care, homecare or cosmetics manufacturing.
  2. Experience of working with relevant packaging materials is essential.
  3. Knowledge of chemicals buying is highly desirable.
  4. Must operate in a professional and courteous manner in all dealings with both internal and external customers.
  5. Able to work on own initiative and enjoy the “hands-on” elements of the role.
  6. Good IT and systems skills.
  7. Applicants must hold the right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis.
