Woodside Veterinary Group is looking for a passionate Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. Located in the beautiful Royal Deeside area of Aberdeenshire, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive mixed practice offering a truly varied caseload across small animal, farm, and equine work.
Practice Overview
- A mixed caseload consisting of approximately 55% small animal, 40% farm animal, and 5% equine work.
- A team of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and a dedicated support team.
- Advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including ultrasound, digital radiography, video endoscopy, dental equipment, multiparameter monitoring, and in‑house laboratory equipment.
- Strong nurse support, including nurse‑led consultations helping maximise clinical efficiency.
- Team members with additional qualifications including a Small Animal Nutrition Certificate, Surgical Nursing Certificate, veterinary physiotherapy expertise, and OPA scanning experience.
- A varied small animal caseload including preventative healthcare, chronic disease management, emergency care, diagnostics, and surgery.
- A farm animal caseload including fertility work, herd health planning, export/import testing, pregnancy diagnosis, OPA scanning, and routine production animal care.
- Minimal TB testing requirements due to 4‑year parish status.
- Limited equine workload focused on routine ambulatory care including vaccinations, dentistry, wound management, geldings, and export work.

As a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon at Woodside Veterinary Group, you will play an important role in delivering high‑quality clinical care across a diverse and rewarding mixed caseload, working closely with a supportive and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality clinical care across small animal, farm, and occasional equine cases.
- Manage consultations, diagnostics, medical work‑ups, and routine surgical procedures.
- Support herd health planning, fertility work, preventative healthcare, and production animal medicine.
- Participate in emergency and out‑of‑hours care on a shared rota.
- Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff across all practice sites.
- Build strong relationships with clients and support continuity of care.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive clinical culture.
Working Pattern
- Full‑time role based on a 4‑day week.
- 4 weekends worked within a 13‑week rota period.
- Small animal urgent care consultations on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
- Shared out‑of‑hours rota between 7 vets.
- Flexible working discussions welcomed.
