Are you an experienced decontamination professional ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Decontamination Manager to lead our decontamination services, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant sterilisation processes across our Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key strategic and operational role within a busy, high-performing Trust. You’ll lead a team of decontamination professionals, maintain high standards in line with HTM and international guidance, and support continuous service development and transformation.
What You\’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the Decontamination Manager and expert advisor across the organisation.
- Ensuring compliance with national standards including HTMs, HBNs, and EN Standards.
- Managing the Hospital Sterile Services Department (HSDU), ensuring optimal service delivery to internal and contracted clients.
- Maintaining the HSDU quality system, ensuring full compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Overseeing the validation, maintenance, and performance monitoring of all decontamination equipment in partnership with service providers and manufacturers.
- Leading policy development, service transformation and staff training in all aspects of decontamination.
- Collaborating with Infection Control, Estates, and Clinical Services to ensure Trust-wide compliance.
What We\’re Looking For:
Essential Qualifications & Training
- City & Guilds/Foundation qualification in Decontamination or significant equivalent experience.
- Eastwood Park Decontamination – Operational Management (DTM).
- Up-to-date knowledge of sterilisation and production techniques.
- Eastwood Park – Lead Roles and Responsibilities (DLR).
- Eastwood Park – Management of Flexible Endoscope Decontamination (WTM4).
Experience
- Minimum 3 years\’ experience at Band 7 or above within a decontamination setting.
- Strong background in scientific management and bacteriological control.
- Demonstrable knowledge of HSDU operations and medical device management.
- Proven experience developing and implementing safety systems, compliance frameworks, and monitoring procedures.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of tracking/traceability systems.
Skills & Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of HTM, EN, and HBN standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Ability to lead teams, develop policies, and drive service improvements.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and compliance monitoring.
