About the Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of our company—delivering exceptional on-site maintenance, repairs and technical support for our industry-leading commercial laundry machines. You’ll work closely with end-users and distributor technicians to diagnose faults, carry out preventive servicing, and minimise equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend customer sites across Hertfordshire and neighbouring counties to perform repairs, preventative maintenance and servicing on commercial laundry equipment (both proprietary and third-party machines).
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults efficiently, ensuring high first-time-fix rates.
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs and work-completion documentation.
- Ensure your service vehicle is well stocked, organised and maintained to company standards.
- Provide telephone support and guidance to customers and distributor technicians when on-site attendance isn’t required.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives: assist with technical bulletins, training materials and product-enhancement feedback.
What We’re Looking For:
- White Goods Experience (Ideal): Prior experience working on domestic or commercial white goods (washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Electrical & Mechanical Competence: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical/mechanical discipline, or 2+ years’ field-service experience in a related industry.
- Technical Aptitude: Proven ability to read electrical schematics, perform safe isolation/dead testing, and fault-find electronic and electromechanical systems.
- Gas Qualification (Desirable): Commercial or domestic gas-service certification; support available for Gas Safe registration if not already qualified.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel regionally (Hertfordshire & neighbouring counties) and occasionally overnight.
- Team Player: Self-motivated, trustworthy and adaptable; able to work independently while contributing to a broader support network.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Remuneration: £36,000 basic salary plus fixed bonus scheme, overtime rates and additional travel allowances.
