Role Overview

As a Senior Consultant, you will deliver strategic and commercial consulting projects across the energy and natural resources sectors.

The ideal candidate will work across these sectors with a keen interest in Gas & LNG, recognizing the important role gas plays as a transition fuel, though prior sector-specific experience is preferred rather than essential.

Contributing to project workstreams, you will combine Wood Mackenzie’s industry-leading data, market intelligence, and analytical tools with your commercial insight to develop actionable recommendations for clients.

Working closely with project leaders, clients, and subject matter experts, you will apply comprehensive analysis, innovative thinking, and industry expertise to solve complex business challenges.

You will also support effective project delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes, strong stakeholder engagement, and adherence to project timelines.

This role can be based in London or Edinburgh and may require occasional travel to support client engagements.

  • Analysis Support a broad range of consulting engagements through advanced modelling, data analysis, and the development of innovative analytical approaches.
  • Contribute to the creation of high-quality client presentations and reports, ensuring insights are clear, compelling, and actionable.
  • Gather, analyse, and interpret data from a variety of internal and external sources, including databases, industry publications, websites, and Wood Mackenzie products.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail to deliver robust, high-quality analysis.
  • Take ownership of project workstreams, delivering results independently and presenting findings with confidence, credibility, and authority to both clients and colleagues.
  • Thinking Creatively: Encourage creative problem solving through challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities, and developing solutions to client challenges.
  • Contribute ideas that enhance methodologies, offerings, and consulting best practices.

About You

Knowledge and Experience Educated to degree level, with a STEM discipline and/or a Master's qualification preferred.

Experience (2 - 5 years) in consulting, strategy, commercial analysis, market intelligence, or a related analytical role.

Knowledge of the Gas & LNG sector is preferred but not essential; equally, experience across the broader energy and natural resources sectors is welcomed, together with an understanding of industry dynamics, value chains, and the implications of the energy transition.

Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, including data analysis, modelling, market assessment, and strategic evaluation.

Proficiency in Excel, Power Point, and Word.

A genuine interest in the energy sector and the energy transition, including an appreciation of the important role gas plays as a transition fuel.

Commercially minded, intellectually curious, and passionate about solving complex client challenges.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and influence stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Highly organised, adaptable, and capable of delivering results independently in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in market analysis, corporate strategy, market entry, valuation, or financial modelling within consulting or industry environments is advantageous.
