The Higher Level Teaching Assistant post at Woodlands School works alongside class teachers to support pupils with complex needs. The core of the role is planning, delivering and evaluating learning for individuals, groups and occasionally whole classes, and leading and supervising Education and Health Care Assistants within the class. The hours are 31 a week over 39 weeks a year, suiting term-time working, and experience in a special school or SEND setting is highly desirable. Visa sponsorship is not available, and an enhanced DBS check is required.
What the job involves
- Plan, deliver and evaluate learning for individuals, groups and occasionally whole classes under an agreed system of supervision
- Take responsibility for agreed learning activities
- Work in close partnership with class teachers to ensure high-quality provision across the school day
- Lead, supervise and support the performance of Education and Health Care Assistants within the class
