Role Description
This full-time Generator Field Service Engineer role is based in the Midlands with a hybrid working arrangement.
The role involves visiting customer sites to install, commission, maintain, and repair generator sets and associated equipment, ensuring reliable operation for critical, standby, and temporary power applications.
Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults, performing scheduled and preventive maintenance, and providing on-site technical support.
The engineer will record service activities, prepare reports, and collaborate with project managers, rental teams, and support staff to deliver timely and effective solutions.
The role also requires clear communication with customers, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and occasional participation in planned and emergency call-outs.
Qualifications
- Strong field service and on-site generator maintenance skills, including experience working independently at customer locations.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and technical support for mechanical and electrical issues on power generation equipment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs, including inspections, testing, and servicing of generators and related systems.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and build professional relationships.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering (e. g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
