Woodland Group are recruiting an Ocean and Airfreight Coordinator for our team at Seaham. Reporting to the Branch Manager and working with Supervisors, the Ocean and Airfreight Operations Coordinator will work closely with customers, clients and agents, coordinating and managing the day‑to‑day operations of road, ocean, and airfreight shipments. This role ensures the efficient and timely movement of goods while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between internal teams, clients, and external agents to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and operational performance. This role requires a proactive approach to problem‑solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a dynamic logistics environment.

About the role:

  • Manage all aspects of the Ocean.
  • Obtain and communicate, internally and externally, all necessary information to ensure correct measures are in place and customer needs are met.
  • Liaise between Suppliers, Forwarders and agents to obtain up to date shipment information.
  • Ensure up to date information is communicated internally and to customers directly to ensure they are fully informed of the progress of their shipments.
  • Provide transport companies with the relevant information to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Ensure correct documentation is on file and act accordingly as set out in the instructions.
  • Maintain all files ensuring they are costed and billed correctly in accordance with procedures provided by management.
  • Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
  • Work with the operations team to continually improve processes and business performance.
  • Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward.
  • Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.
  • Achieving agreed individual objectives.
  • Understanding and adhering to all Woodland policies and procedures relevant to the role.

Personal Specification:

  • You have previous experience in full cycle Air and Ocean freight forwarding.
  • You have a good understanding of import and export procedures and customs clearance processes.
  • You have proficiency with freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • You can work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as key stakeholders across the group.
  • You have the natural ability and enjoy building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • You excel with a team environment as well as being able to work autonomously when required.
  • You are flexible, adaptable, and open minded and respond well to the ever‑changing priorities and challenges while remaining calm and focused on getting the job done.
  • You are proactive looking at ways to improve processes and have the initiative to put them forward and where possible into practice.
  • You actively seek ways to enhance your knowledge and improve your performance.
  • You are self‑motivated, have huge drive and ambition – you thrive off achieving great success and helping to build a great place to work!
