Overview

Park Holidays UK is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Grounds Person to manage the maintenance and presentation of our golf course. If you are passionate about grounds keeping, have experience with golf course maintenance, and enjoy working outdoors, this is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and growing company. You will lead a team in ensuring the golf course is kept in pristine condition, providing an excellent experience for golfers year-round.

Job Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course, including mowing, watering, and fertilizing greens, fairways, and tees to ensure optimal playing conditions.
  • Lead and manage the grounds team, providing guidance and training to ensure high standards of performance and attention to detail.
  • Monitor and maintain the irrigation systems to ensure the course is properly watered, adjusting schedules based on weather conditions.
  • Manage the upkeep of the golf course’s landscaping, including trees, shrubs, and flower beds, ensuring the entire area is visually appealing and well-maintained.
  • Ensure all grounds keeping equipment is maintained, serviced, and stored correctly. Oversee repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Implement programs to maintain turf health, including aeration, seeding, and pest control to keep the course in top condition throughout the year.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety checks and keeping all staff informed of best practices.
  • Manage and monitor the budget for grounds maintenance, including ordering supplies and managing costs to ensure effective resource use.
  • Ensure that the course is set up appropriately for play, including positioning of tee markers, flags, and hole cups.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in grounds keeping, particularly in golf course maintenance, is essential.
  • Experience leading and managing a team in an outdoor environment.
  • Strong understanding of golf course machinery, equipment, and irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of turf management, soil science, and pest control specific to golf courses.
  • An eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards in course presentation and upkeep.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with machinery, irrigation, and course conditions, making quick and effective decisions when necessary.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and in various weather conditions as required by the needs of the golf course.
  • Physically fit and able to handle the demands of working outdoors and operating heavy equipment.
  • A valid driver's license and experience with operating grounds keeping machinery.
  • This role is subject to a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
