A leading national property consultancy is seeking an experienced Head of Building Surveying to take ownership of a well established and successful service line within their Cambridge office. This is a senior leadership opportunity offering genuine scope to shape, grow and influence an already high performing team. The wider business is a respected multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong national presence across multiple property service lines and sectors. It is well regarded for its collaborative culture, quality of service and ability to deliver complex instructions across both professional and project disciplines.

The Cambridge Building Surveying team currently consists of four professionals. It is a close knit and capable group with strong foundations already in place, alongside clear and supported plans for expansion. The incoming leader will play a pivotal role in driving this next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

The Work

The role offers a broad and balanced workload, including both professional and project based instructions:

  • Dilapidations
  • Technical Due Diligence (TDD)
  • Contract Administration
  • Planned Maintenance programmes
  • Reinstatement Cost Assessments
  • Wider general building surveying consultancy work

Candidates should be comfortable operating across a varied workload and demonstrate a strong track record in delivering multiple service lines rather than a narrow specialism.

Candidate Requirements

  • MRICS qualification (essential)
  • Significant consultancy experience within Building Surveying
  • Experience operating at Director level, or Senior Associate level ready to step up
  • A proven ability to win work and develop client relationships directly
  • Strong networking capability and commercial awareness
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff, including APC support
  • A leadership mindset with ambition to grow and develop a team

This position would suit either an established Director seeking greater autonomy and influence, or a high performing Senior Associate who has reached a ceiling in their current environment and is ready for progression.
