A leading multidisciplinary property consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director Building Surveyor to join its established Real Estate practice based in high quality West End office space. This is a senior appointment within a growing Building Surveying service line, offering a clear route through to Partner level.

The Opportunity

You will join a well established consultancy environment operating across a broad mix of commercial and residential assets, including both new build and refurbishment projects. The role offers significant variety, technical depth, and the opportunity to work on high value, repeat client instructions. The position sits within a team that is actively expanding, where you will play a key role in both project delivery and supporting the wider growth of the service line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dilapidations (schedules, negotiations and settlement discussions both tenant and landlord)
  • Project management across multi sector schemes
  • Contract administration duties
  • Design and specification work
  • Principal Designer roles under CDM
  • Party wall matters
  • Schedules of condition
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPMs)
  • Reinstatement cost assessments (RCAs)
  • Development monitoring
  • Wider professional building surveying services

Requirements

  • MRICS is essential
  • Significant experience within Building Surveying, ideally gained in a consultancy environment
  • Strong exposure to both commercial and residential sectors
  • Experience delivering both new build and refurbishment projects
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach and develop junior surveyors, ideally through their APC
  • Commercial awareness with experience of, or confidence in, contributing to business development activity
  • Strong client facing skills with an emphasis on relationship management and service delivery
  • Understanding of repeat client environments and the importance of client care

Business Development & Client Focus

The majority of instructions are generated through repeat business (85%), reflecting the importance placed on long term client relationships and service quality. However, there is a clear expectation that senior hires will support ongoing growth through networking, client engagement and involvement in winning new work. The Building Surveying function is on a defined growth trajectory, and individuals who understand how to contribute to this will be well positioned for progression.
