A boutique building consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join its London team, based in modern offices on the South Bank. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to take ownership of a varied workload, contribute to a close knit team environment and progress within a growing practice that values both technical ability and collaboration.

The Practice

This is a well established boutique consultancy delivering high quality building surveying services across London and the South East. The team is small, highly collaborative and operates with a strong shared focus on delivering consistently high standards for clients. The office is modern, well presented and extremely well connected via multiple transport links, making commuting straightforward from across London and surrounding areas.

The Role

The position is primarily focused on residential refurbishment led projects, alongside exposure to commercial and mixed use schemes, typically arising from residential instructions. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, including:

  • Initial client meetings to define scope and requirements
  • Building inspections and condition surveys
  • Preparation of specifications and technical documentation
  • Development of design options and recommendations
  • Contract administration from inception to completion
  • Procurement advice and contractor engagement
  • Defects analysis and reporting
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) work
  • Project delivery through to handover

Projects range from small scale refurbishments through to complex, multi phase schemes, offering strong variety and technical depth.

Key Requirements

  • MRICS qualified ideally or working towards chartership (support provided if on the APC pathway)
  • Minimum 3+ years consultancy experience within building surveying
  • Strong technical understanding of refurbishment and building pathology
  • Proven experience in residential led projects (commercial/mixed use beneficial)
  • Confident managing projects independently end-to-end
  • Strong report writing and client facing skills
  • Comfortable reviewing and signing off work
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues advantageous
