About the role
We're seeking new trustees for our small charity which runs a community centre on beautiful Tooting Bec Common. We're looking for local people who are passionate about social wellbeing, bringing people together, and appreciation of and care for the surrounding natural environment.

Our trustees play a vital role in ensuring we achieve this core purpose by overseeing the overall management and administration of the charity, ensuring a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Trustees also support the Manager, staff and volunteers to enable the charity to grow and thrive.
What are we looking for?
It is important that applicants are local to our centre, the Woodfield Pavilion on Tooting Common, so they can visit regularly. Applicants must be able to devote four hours a week to the charity and sustain the role for the next three years. We particularly welcome experience in finance, property, strategy, legal or communications. Candidates should be able to think strategically, exercise sound judgement, collaborate effectively and respond quickly to the needs of a small charity with one full‑time employee.
Location: Hybrid.
What will you be doing?
As a board of local people who care deeply about community, wellbeing and the environment, we are working to establish a stable trustee board to support our new centre manager. Over the next year we aim to create a sustainable long‑term funding base, ensure strong governance and compliance, and maximise the use and impact of our building. The role is hands‑on and involves connection with every part of our enterprise, placing trustees in teams with other trustees and volunteers to make the best use of professional and other experience.
Commitment
We expect trustees to commit to the role for the next three years, be local to Tooting Common, and dedicate four hours a week. In return you will be part of a small, friendly and informal board working closely with our centre manager to make a difference to local communities. You will also build a deep connection with a unique building in a stunning natural environment and with the diverse groups it serves.
