We are seeking an experienced, values‑led and highly relational Student Support Lead to oversee and operationally lead our Student Support provision across the school. This role sits above Student Support Workers and provides clear oversight, coordination and consistency across student support hubs, interventions and pastoral responses. The Student Support Lead will work closely with SLT and teaching staff while remaining highly visible and operational on the ground. They will ensure that student support workers, systems and spaces are working effectively to meet the needs of students, particularly during moments of dysregulation or crisis. This is an active, hands‑on lead role. Alongside strategic oversight and organisation, the Student Support Lead will model best practice, support complex pupils directly when required, and ensure that restorative, values‑driven practice is consistently embedded across the school.

About the Role

  • Lead and coordinate day‑to‑day pastoral support, ensuring high‑quality provision for pupils with emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Manage and deploy Student Support Workers, overseeing student support hubs and daily operations.
  • Deliver and review targeted interventions, supporting pupils’ reintegration into learning through restorative approaches.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding and pastoral records, monitoring trends to inform support strategies.
  • Promote a values‑driven, restorative culture by coaching staff and modelling best practice.
  • Collaborate with staff and senior leaders to evaluate impact and improve whole‑school pastoral provision.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Uphold safeguarding standards, ensuring pupil safety, confidentiality, and effective supervision.

About you

  • GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
  • Experienced in supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, with knowledge of trauma‑informed and restorative practice.
  • Able to lead or coordinate pastoral provision and support staff effectively.
  • Confident using data to guide interventions and decision‑making.
  • Calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Committed to inclusive, values‑driven practice.
  • Team Teach trained (or willing to train); relevant pastoral or specialist setting experience desirable.
