Woodbank Environmental is a small and friendly consultancy based in Cheshire. This is a full-time Consultant Ecologist role based in the Cheshire area, with a hybrid working arrangement that combines field, office, and some work‑from‑home flexibility.

The Consultant Ecologist will plan and carry out field surveys, including habitat and species assessments, to support development projects. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include analysing data, preparing technical reports and advising project teams on ecological constraints and opportunities. Qualifications:

  • Field ecology skills, including experience with wildlife surveys and practical field work across a range of habitats.
  • Proven experience in producing clear, accurate, and structured technical reports.
  • Relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, conservation biology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and relevant guidance.
  • Competence in using QGIS.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work safely and effectively in the field, in the office, and remotely.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel for site visits and out‑of‑hours surveys, where required.
  • Membership or working toward membership of CIEEM.
  • Protected species licences would be an advantage.
