Woodard is a significant educational charity, founded on the vision of Canon Nathaniel Woodard, and committed to providing high-quality education within an actively Christian school environment for all. Today, Woodard educates more than 30,000 pupils across academy, independent and state-maintained schools. This role offers the right candidate a distinctive opportunity to contribute to that mission by providing valued support across the Corporation, its Board and its schools.

The post sits within a small Head Office team which supports Woodard’s work across its family of schools. Although we have an office in London, Head Office staff work remotely from locations across the UK, and this role will primarily be home-based. Some travel will be required to schools and other locations, as set out in the job description, together with occasional attendance at the London office. The Woodard Corporation Head Office is currently being restructured, and this is a new post designed to strengthen the service we provide to our Board and schools.

About the role:

Reporting to The Director of Finance, the Business and Operations Manager will demand an organised and proactive approach, supporting the effective operation of the Woodard Corporation Board, Head Office functions and day-to-day activities. They will ensure the efficient planning and delivery of meetings, conferences and events, and provide high-quality governance and administrative support. This role would suit a range of potential candidates at different stages of their careers, including those with relevant experience who may be returning to work after a career break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of Board and committee meetings, the AGM, conferences and events.
  • Develop agendas, arrange meetings, prepare briefing packs, draft minutes and track actions arising.
  • Comprehensive logistical support for meetings, conferences and events.
  • Executive & Administrative Support Remote Office Coordination.

The ideal candidate will bring/ demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
  • Confident in the use of AI in support of business processes.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, with a natural curiosity and a willingness to contribute across a varied remit.
  • Willingness for occasional travel and to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (or hold a current certificate).
  • Sympathetic to Christian values.
  • An interest in education and the charitable sector.
  • Experience of coordinating events, projects or administrative processes.
