Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an Subsea Production System (SPS) Engineering Lead with extensive experience in major upstream oil and gas projects.

This role will be based in our Staines office and offers flexible hybrid working.

There will also be a requirement for the successful candidate to travel to other project/contractor offices and site locations globally.

Job Objective

  • Active contribution to the delivery of Project Engineering excellence through:
  • Achieving project completion to the project specifications on schedule.
  • Being accountable for the quality of SPS Engineering activities.
  • To support the SPS package in ensuring that the engineering team is adequately manned in respect of the required technical capabilities, ability to meet the technical engagement needs of the Contractor in the day to day execution of the Engineering scope.
  • Providing Engineering expertise to the Package and Project Teams
  • Supporting team department members.
  • Executing assigned scopes of work.
  • Participate in project workshops such as HAZIDs, HAZOPS, Risk workshops, etc.
  • Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diverse technical problems that may arise within the SPS packages.
  • Engaging with project HSE and Quality teams
  • Coordinating the treatment of TQ’s and Contractor generated MOCs (this can be managed in collaboration with the individual Package Leads with the SPS Delivery lines.
  • Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development.
  • Actively engaging in the interface management process.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting ongoing contracting process to ensure technical alignment between the Contractor and Company prior to revised proposal.
  • Ensuring that all engineering deliverables associated with the SPS Package meets the project specifications and objectives.
  • Actively engaging with the project engineering activities and particular where technical challenges requiring resolution have been raised.
  • Ensuring that the Engineering execution of the SPS and PURF packages effectively engineered and that Company’s technical support team is able to:
  • Review all Contractor generated SPS Engineering Deliverables.
  • Monitor Contractor’s Engineering progress.
  • Monitor Contractors Engineering team make-up to ensure adequacy of resourcing (quantity and competency).
  • Ensuring that Safety in Design is incorporated into the Contractors Engineering deliverables.
  • Ensuring that Constructability/Installability is incorporated into the Contractors Engineering deliverables
  • Providing continued support during the installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning stages of the project
  • Participate in audits as required.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Demonstrable expertise in engineering design, managing and collaboration with discipline engineers relating to the engineering of: Subsea Deepwater Trees, Manifolds, Connector Systems and Subsea Controls including associated Topside Packages as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Fabrication, Installation, Commissioning, Start-up and Operation.
  • Expert knowledge of applicable SPS international codes and standards OIGP & API17A to S.
  • Expert knowledge of design deliverables associated with Subsea Production Systems.
  • Active participation with and coordination of Management of Change (MOC) and Technical Query processes run by Contractors.
  • Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
  • Self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, initiatives and industry technology developments
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the technologies, techniques, design and installation requirements
  • Contributing to project workshops

General

  • Provide planning, CTR and schedule data as required.
  • Providing engineering support for the SPS Delivery Teams.

Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc or equivalent, Chartered Engineer or recognized equivalent experience.
  • Considerable experience in relevant disciplines with O&G experience in a similar position.
  • Self-motivated and able to clearly communicate with Contractors and Project Management Team at all levels.
  • Good presentation and written communication skills.
