Wood is recruiting for a Lead Flow Assurance Engineer to join its Production Optimisation team within the Digital Consulting business unit. This position offers hybrid work flexibility and is open to applicants from across the UK, ideally those who can easily commute to our Aberdeen or Staines office.
The Role
To support continued growth within the Production Optimisation team in the UK, we are searching for a driven, solution-orientated and creative Lead Flow Assurance Engineer with technical knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and transport phenomena, and people leadership skills to play a leading role in both the traditional oil and gas and the energy transition markets. As a Lead Engineer, you will lead studies and projects ranging from conceptual to detailed engineering and operation support. You will have the opportunity to be involved in business development activities and work as part of a global team. This role is to manage key projects, develop technical proficiency within the company, assist in new opportunities and interfaces with key clients. You will have a solid technical background and be comfortable being a primary point of contact with senior clients and specialists. You will primarily supervise senior flow assurance/process consultants and will have excellent interpersonal skills and management experience.

Our Production Optimisation team are part of our Digital consulting business unit. We support our clients to secure economic recovery from existing infrastructure, optimising assets and enabling extension of productive field life whilst accelerating the move towards net Zero. The work we do predominately enables Energy security whilst we transition. However, we are also growing our services across Carbon Capture Utilisation and storage and transportation of Hydrogen and Ammonia. Expected:
- Recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or extensive experience in a relative field and a demonstrated ability to be able to perform equivalently to, or better than, reasonably expected of a degree qualified engineer. Advanced degree focusing in the areas of multiphase flow / fluid dynamics / heat transfer / applied mathematics is desirable but not required.
- Considerable previous flow assurance and process experience in the Oil and Gas industry with an excellent technical background.
- A proven track record in management of process and flow assurance studies.
- Proven experience in coaching the junior flow assurance and process engineers.
- Good experience with major flow assurance software packages: OLGA, Pipesim, Multi flash, Leda Flow etc.
- Good appreciation of process engineering, and simulation using Hysys and/or Unisim.
- Good knowledge of HAZOP, process safety and risk assessment.
Desirable:
- Local market knowledge would be seen as an advantage.
