Wood is recruiting for a Shutdown Manager to join the Spirit Contract focusing on developing and executing the life-of-asset shutdown strategy for the Morecambe Asset. The position will be based in Aberdeen, on a Hybrid basis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the life-of-asset shutdown strategy ensuring alignment with asset and company strategic objectives.
  • Apply risk-based tools to screen and prioritise shutdown scopes, ensuring only safety-critical, value-adding, and economically justified work is executed.
  • Champion a culture of safety and operational discipline, ensuring shutdowns are delivered incident-free.
  • Ensure that all shutdown activities are planned and executed in alignment with Spirit Energy’s HSE management system and control of work requirements.
  • Deliver all shutdowns in compliance with Spirit’s Shutdown Management Standard.
  • Manage all phases of the shutdown lifecycle — including scope freeze, mobilisation, execution, and closeout — ensuring clear control of scope changes.
  • Lead integration across disciplines (operations, engineering, maintenance, integrity, projects) to ensure schedule and workpack readiness.
  • Assume hub leadership responsibilities during execution, overseeing and ensuring integration of offshore and terminal activities.
  • Ensure efficient plant handover from operations to minimise production downtime.
  • Maintain full compliance with HSE, regulatory, and technical standards throughout shutdown execution.
  • Define, gain alignment with internal stakeholders and own the shutdown delivery strategy and contracting model.
  • Manage contractor performance against clearly defined scopes, KPIs, and deliverables.
  • Lead shutdown cost management — from budgeting and forecasting to final reconciliation — with robust risk and contingency planning.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for shutdowns on the asset.
  • Provide regular performance updates and decision-making support to the Asset Leadership Team.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to ensure shutdown success, even without direct authority.
