Wood is currently looking for a Senior Technical Safety Engineer (PSC) to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business supporting across our UK projects.
This role is available on a hybrid basis with Tuesdays and Wednesdays to be in one of the following hub offices: Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Staines.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the safe design and operation of engineering projects. This position involves conducting comprehensive risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards, while collaborating closely with design teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards from the earliest stages of each project.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Chemical or Process Engineering) or equivalent, with extensive technical safety experience
- Experience in process safety engineering within oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors, including greenfield and brownfield projects
- Ability to lead multiple safety projects, managing priorities under pressure
- Experience with brownfield upgrades, automation, and control systems, focusing on operational risk and compliance
- Understanding of project commercial and contractual aspects related to safety engineering
- Excellent communication skills, with experience leading teams and managing stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to safety practices
- Chartered Engineer and member of relevant engineering institutions
- Knowledge of ISO 21789 and gas turbine safety assessments
- Experience conducting DSEAR assessments
- Specialization in gas turbines, understanding compressor operations and maintenance
- Experience using AGI Safe for FRA/QRA
- Strong leadership skills fostering a collaborative team environment
