Wood is currently looking for a Senior Technical Safety Engineer (PSC) to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business supporting UK projects.

This role is available on a hybrid basis, requiring presence in Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Staines on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Applicants must pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

We seek a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to ensure the safe design and operation of engineering projects. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, identifying hazards, and collaborating with design teams to ensure safety compliance from project inception.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical or Process preferred) or equivalent, with safety experience
  • Extensive process safety experience in oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors
  • Ability to manage multiple safety projects under pressure
  • Experience with brownfield upgrades and automation replacements
  • Understanding of project contracts and safety deliverables
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous safety improvement
  • Chartered Engineer membership
  • Knowledge of ISO 21789 and gas turbine safety assessment
  • Experience with DSEAR assessments
  • Gas turbine specialization and compressor knowledge
  • Experience with AGI Safe for FRA/QRA
  • Leadership skills fostering team collaboration and mentoring
