Wood is currently recruiting for two Senior Solar PV Consultants to join the Advisory services team within our Renewables consultancy business. These positions have become available due to continued growth within our advisory services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Solar Consultant who is looking for an opportunity to be part of a global consultancy service company that will provide exposure to a wide range of different consultancy projects within the Solar and renewables sector.

The principal responsibilities of this post include:

  • Manage/support solar project developments, providing engineering input from initial assessment, through to technical and economic feasibility, due diligence, construction monitoring, acceptance and operation monitoring (primarily in the megawatt scale)
  • Review and prepare technical documents including specifications, reports, proposals, calculations and contracts
  • Site visits in the UK and abroad
  • Provide technical support to clients
  • Technical assessment of PV products and devices
  • Promote Wood’s solar services in a business development role
  • Other ad hoc activities as and when required
  • Manage the teams of multi-disciplined engineers needed to deliver our scopes of work, including both Solar and non-Solar staff
  • Act as main interface and manage the relationship with key clients
  • Responsibility for the financial performance of any projects managed
  • Disseminate knowledge to team members

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree or above in engineering, science based subject (electrical engineering favourably considered)
  • A working knowledge of solar energy technology and projects
  • The ability to produce high quality technical reports to predefined deadlines
  • Competent user of main Microsoft packages
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • A flexible and proactive approach
  • Reliability and good organisational/project management skills
  • Valid driving licence for use within the UK
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • A confident communicator
  • Ability to manage project work without supervision
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal)
  • Understanding of technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects (including project finance)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience working in consultancy and/or project development environment
  • Competence in understanding solar contracts
  • Previous experience in the development, construction and operation of solar energy projects
  • Previous experience in conducting lenders or acquisition technical advisor assignments
  • Academic background in solar PV technology
  • Foreign language skills
  • An understanding of the key technical and commercial aspects of solar projects
  • Experience in Solar PV yield prediction software, e.g. PVSYST
