Wood is seeking an established Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to support our growing workload within the Commercial area of our Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd entity. As a leading provider of engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector, we are at the forefront of net zero 2050 with a secured workstream for years to come.

The role can be site-based, hybrid, or remote with travel. We seek an experienced Quantity Surveyor, eager to work with a dynamic team and take on new challenges.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor from civils, infrastructure, or construction backgrounds, comfortable working as the Principal Contractor, with a broad project portfolio. Key skills include cost & change control, contract & subcontract administration, and project reporting. The candidate will manage Client and Subcontractor relationships, with opportunities for future progression in Scotland-based transmission and distribution projects. Flexibility, collaboration via MS Teams, and travel across Scotland are essential.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial support for financial and contractual matters, including post-award contract administration, project plans, cost analysis, cashflow forecasts, subcontracting strategy, internal reviews, and project forecasts. You will handle projects from construction start, monitor progress, identify entitlement, and manage budgets.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies (preferred)
  • Significant experience in QS roles, preferably in transmission and distribution overhead lines
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts
