Senior Instrument Designer

Wood is currently recruiting for Senior Instrument Designers to work on a PSC contract outside IR35. Must have extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. Wood is undergoing significant growth in our North Sea engineering and modifications business and we are delighted to offer a range of long-term opportunities across a variety of our clients and scopes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Create designs and sketch out detailed plans for projects such as commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems.
• Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity, capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques.
• Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• A full understanding of the materials and methods normally used in their discipline.
• An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required.
• Capable of interpreting key documents including engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and Line Lists.
• Technically oriented, mechanically inclined, good at mathematics, and talented at translating intangible concepts into hands-on project plans.
• Competent user of E3D CAD/software.
