Wood Commissioning is recruiting for an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to support the Harbour Energy contract based in Aberdeen. We are seeking a forward‑thinking, pro‑active Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our onshore team to support an exciting portfolio of projects and modifications on the Harbour Energy’s North Sea Assets. The scope is long‑term, supporting a 5‑year contract, and will be largely onshore based with occasional visits offshore to support the commissioning phase of critical projects and modifications. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of regular presence in the Aberdeen office. The successful candidate will be engaged on a Limited Company contractor basis operating outside IR35.
Responsibilities
- Review the commissioning work scopes assigned by the Lead Commissioning Engineer.
- Attend KO meetings as delegated by the Lead Commissioning Engineer.
- Provide multi‑discipline commissioning input into the project design phase.
- Liaise with the project engineering office to ensure that the applicable fabrication and construction drawings are produced in line with commissioning requirements.
- Be the focal point for commissioning for said work scopes and input into constructability reviews.
- Produce LOSH mark‑ups.
- Input to certificate requirements and Commissioning and Certification Handover Packs (CCHP’s).
- Develop project multi‑discipline commissioning strategy documents.
- Develop multi‑discipline commissioning procedures – ensure compliance with project standards, specifications and procedures.
- Responsible for the production of the commissioning estimates.
- Input to the development of commissioning schedules for incorporation with the overall integrated plan and schedule.
- Assist the Lead with the review and assess commissioning resource requirements on a scope‑by‑scope basis.
- Identification, sourcing and selection of commissioning test equipment.
- Input to the CCHP close‑out review process.
- Liaise with offshore team.
- Liaise with Lead Commissioning Engineer.
- Monitor and report commissioning progress on a regular basis.
- Contribute to lessons‑learned sessions.
- Provide input into audits as required.
- Provide a focal point for commissioning and input into constructability reviews.
- Manage the delivery of Commissioning and Certification Packages (CCHP’s).
- Manage the development of Commissioning Procedures as required by the scope.
- Responsible for the day‑to‑day direction of the technical delivery team.
Offshore / On‑Site Activities (ad‑hoc Requirement)
- Supervise safe delivery of commissioning activities based on guidance provided in the CCHP / procedures.
- Actively participate in all company and project safety initiatives.
- Ensure a safe Permit to Work and isolation system is in place and adhered to.
- Status reporting of commissioning progress.
- Site management of commissioning test equipment.
- Ensure Document As building meet project expectations.
- Co‑ordination of equipment vendors / subcontractors during commissioning activities.
- Identification of PTW requirements and the raising of applicable permits to cover commissioning work scope.
Qualifications
- HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering related subject.
- BOSIET / OGUK Medical.
- IT Literate (Excel / Word / PowerPoint etc).
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering related subject an advantage.
- Task Risk Management Trained Person.
- Conversant with Project Management Systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in similar role, with a proven background of delivery.
- Strong multidiscipline experience in O&G system commissioning, start‑up and operations.
- Recognised O&G process commissioning background.
- Experienced in attending multidiscipline HAZOPs / HaziOS risk assessment reviews.
- Experienced in the supervision of system commissioning personnel.
- Extensive knowledge of O&G related HSEQ safe working practices / procedures.
- Experienced in the development and coaching of team members.
- Ability to interface and interact with Client Representatives at all levels.
- Conversant with HR practices / processes.
- Conversant with audit process.
- Ability to demonstrate effective and efficient management of processes and personnel.
- Ability to demonstrate high level understanding of HSSE safe working practices and procedures and their implementation.
- Fully conversant with the completions and commissioning process.
- Ability to interpret project procedures, standards, specifications and drawings including PFDs / P&IDs / SLDs / C&E’s etc.
- Ability to produce system commissioning strategy documents and develop / review commissioning procedures.
- Familiar with national / international O&G industry legislation, standards and specifications.
- Conversant with completions management software and its functionality.
- Good level of understanding of construction processes.
- Good organisational and scheduling skills.
