Wood is recruiting a Senior Project Engineer with expertise in the Oil and Gas Industry for an exciting role developing scopes of work for engineering modifications within our clients' office on a Staff basis. The role will be hybrid working and will require a minimum of 3 days per week in the client office.
The key responsibility is to develop and prioritise scopes of work as part of the client work entry process. Work closely with the asset facilities engineers and technical teams, coordinate and develop technical solutions and business justifications to support work entry as a medication. On completion of each scope, this is presented in the form of a scope of work to the respective asset managers.
Reporting into the asset facilities engineers, this scope includes but is not limited to:
- Management of a database of proposed scopes and prioritising scopes appropriately to meet business demand.
- Working closely with the asset technical engineers to develop fit-for-purpose value-adding solutions and preparing the scope sufficient for the respective maintenance or engineering team to develop a study or execute proposal.
- Presenting to the asset the value/benefits of the scope and giving an honest appraisal of whether the scope has a sufficient business justification to proceed into the next phase.
- Management of the Agile process to ensure best-in-class delivery of the scopes.
Successful candidates should have a strong safety focus and, as a Wood representative in the client office, be expected to be a champion and role model for ethical behaviour and comply with applicable laws, policies, and Wood procedures.
Wood is currently growing their project and modification portfolio of key EPCC opportunities spanning 3-5 years longevity, including projects across O&G, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and chemicals.

- Recognised qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Preferable chartered engineer and member of a recognised institution.
- Relevant proven experience in multidiscipline engineering management within Process and Energy or Oil and Gas industry.
- Understanding of procedures and work practices that define Engineering Management and Project Engineering deliverables.
- Understanding of the importance of Project Engineering deliverables and need for accuracy and timeliness.
- Familiar with project scopes and coordination among engineering disciplines.
- Commercially astute and aware of change control.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, procedures and work practices.
- Able to lead small team with minimal manager intervention.
- CDM experience preferred.
- Extensive experience as discipline engineer or in junior project engineering roles.
- Good understanding of technical scope, key dates, milestones.
- Familiarity with contractual and commercial requirements.
- Understanding of customer satisfaction and internal customer delivery.
- Negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and coordinate complex solutions.
