We are recruiting for a Principal Construction Engineer to join our Reading Home Office team, providing support for the successful delivery of projects. The position will be based in our Reading office with hybrid working considered.
The Role
This role is suitable for an experienced Principal Construction Engineer who is familiar with developing construction execution methodologies and has a structured approach to work packaging. This role may also be suitable for a Senior Construction Engineer who is seeking to develop their career and take on more responsibility. Willingness to undertake business trips and assignments away from the home office is a necessary part of construction execution and the role requires candidates to be supportive of this. The ideal candidate will be part of the Construction Engineering Team and will report directly into the Construction Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities
- Lead construction involvement on projects from concept through to EPC / EPCm
- Depending on project scale, lead or support the development of the project Construction Execution Plan
- Provide construction expertise to support design development and project planning, so that construction activities are scheduled realistically and efficiently
- Lead constructability and HAZCON (construction risk) reviews
- Lead Advanced Work Packaging implementation including construction work area and construction work package breakdowns and establishing the Path of Construction
- Perform construction feasibility and method studies
- Support the development of the contracting philosophy for the project
- Ensure contract deliverables, documents and specifications are produced to meet the needs of the project and project schedule
- Coordinate the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, requisitions and bid summaries for all temporary facilities and construction equipment required within the scope of services
- Classify and coordinate the preparation of heavy lift and transportation, and heavy load and traffic movement studies
- Review the project estimate to ensure the completeness of scope and correctness of construction input
- Identify construction deliverables to suit the project requirements and control and schedule them using the Wood Document Management System
- Mentor and assist in the training of Senior and Construction Engineers

- Expected: Engineering degree
- Home office experience in FEED / EPC on new energy / downstream oil and gas projects, UK and / or overseas
- Desirable: Site experience
- Qualification in HSE e.g. NEBOSH
- Hands on experience of Advanced Work Packaging e.g. WorkPacks, O3
- Hands on experience of Completion Management Systems e.g. CoConsole, GoCompletions
- Hands on experience of planning construction logistics and execution including heavy lift, plot layout and access, temporary facilities and site workforce and plant movement
- Ability to lead construction constructability and HAZCON construction risk assessment
