Wood is currently recruiting for a Proposal Services Estimator to join our Reading office on a staff basis. The successful candidate will have strong estimating experience within an O&G project environment.

  • Production of proposal and contract services estimates as requested by Manager, Estimating.
  • Ensure proposal estimating procedures are followed and applied consistently across all proposal estimates.
  • Ensure all estimates are electronically filed in compliance with the proposal estimating filing procedure.
  • Management and control, understand the procedures and documentation required in the production of proposal estimates.
  • Technical expertise, appropriate levels of technical and analytical knowledge to support the production of proposal estimates.
  • Commercial awareness, basic understanding of the markets in which Wood operates and what market factors affect the cost basis.
  • Analytical thinking, ability to understand complex problems and can utilise analytical tools to break down problems and recommend potential solutions.
  • Organisational awareness, understands the wider business objectives, understand their role within those objectives and guide their input and decision making.
  • Review and agree with the Manager Estimating/Proposal Manager the scope, basis and methodology of the estimate.
  • Produce the estimate based on the agreed methodologies.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments to obtain all required technical and commercial input for the production of the proposal estimate.
  • Prepare summary data required for review process and presentation to senior management.
  • Undertake risk analysis assessment to determine the proposed level of contingency.
  • Prepare the estimate pricing notes to support the proposal estimate.
  • Prepare statistical/historical data analysis as required to benchmark estimates and support the estimate/management review process.
  • Support in the departments collation and use of statistics, norms and key metrics.

Qualifications:

  • HNC in Engineering Discipline or degree in appropriate discipline would be preferable.
  • Experience of Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC projects.
  • Experience in presentations to clients.
  • Knowledge of all estimating techniques.
