Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Engineer with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry based in Aberdeen. Contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through:
- Executing assigned scopes of work
- Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
- Providing discipline expertise to the business
- Coaching and mentoring as delegated
- Managing and supervising direct reports
Process Ownership:
- Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
- Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
- Provide discipline support to the business
Responsibilities:
- Provide input to piping and layout studies
- Define piping design requirements for technical scopes
- Development of deliverables and documentation required for use in offshore workpacks and in the supply chain
- Support the development of and/or develop requisitions for the procurement of piping related material and equipment
- Undertake design checking of piping deliverables
- Provide support to the Lead Piping Engineer and the project delivery team
- Provide piping design technical expertise to the project
- Resolve piping related design issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards
- Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of piping designs
- Provide support for interdiscipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking
- Maintain own knowledge and understanding to meet competence requirements of Senior Piping Designer
- Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement
- Utilise software tools in design development and checking (eg PDMS, Navisworks, E3D)
Qualifications:
- MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
- Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent
- Competent in own discipline to provide support to the business
- Demonstrate current knowledge with industry and technology development within discipline
- Communication in written and spoken forms
- Participate in audit and incident investigations as required
