Wood is recruiting for an Offshore Principal Cost Estimator to support our Process & Chemicals Team. This role can be based in any of our UK offices, including Reading, Staines, Aberdeen or Glasgow. It can also be on a staff or contract basis.

The Role

This is a fantastic role for candidates with strong estimating experience within an O'G project environment. The candidate will be responsible, as and when required, for the estimating of complete projects of all classes by application of recognised norms and databases, including Wood internal procedures.

Responsibilities

  • To liaise during the Estimating phase between the Study Manager and engineering disciplines to establish continuity and consistency.
  • Review equipment lists, drawings, and attend meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Lead and contribute to all aspects of estimates, including detail of unit rates, factored approaches and use of systems such as ACCE.
  • Lead a team of estimators as required, and help develop knowledge of less experienced members.
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back‑up estimate figures.
  • Assemble and present a professional estimate with the tools and systems available.

What makes you remarkable?

  • Degree or HNC/D in Engineering Discipline or an appropriate discipline would be preferable.
  • Experience of all accuracies of estimates (conceptual/feasibility, Pre‑FEED, FEED and EPC projects).
  • Understanding of and ability to quantify and price all elements of cost estimates and impacts on overall CAPEX/TIC.
  • Experience and confidence in presentations to management, stakeholders and clients.
  • Knowledge of all estimating techniques – familiarity with AACE estimating classifications.
  • Familiarity with contingent and risk analysis methods (e.g. Monte Carlo, @Risk).
