Due to significant growth at Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK, we are looking for an Overhead Lines (OHL) Engineering Manager to join our team. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance and bolstering our technical credibility with new and existing clients. Your responsibilities will include leading engineering delivery across multiple projects, ensuring timely preparation of quality deliverables within the allocated program and budget. At Wood, we support hybrid working, offering a blend of office and remote work. The role involves travel as needed and can be based at any of our UK offices, with a preference for Glasgow or Horsham.

The Role
As an established engineering manager with experience of managing small teams and expertise in OHL Design,you will make an impact from day one taking ownership of the team’s delivery in this technical lead role. Not only will you provide day to day leadership to ensure deadlines are met but also ensure a robust design which meets stakeholder needs through constructability reviews, safety by design approach and value engineering assessments. In addition, you will be part of a global team and will benefit from career development opportunities that working for a large organisation can readily offer. This opportunity will allow you to enhance your project management skillset, progress to Senior Engineering Manager and then Head of Engineering level or move to a Head of Design discipline route if your preference is a more technical pathway.

Expected:
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent preferred
- Substantial experience of delivering Overhead Transmission line design
- Strong teamworking and organisation abilities with honed communication skills
- Understanding of key health and safety impacts onoverhead lines (OHL)construction contracts
- Fluent spoken and written English language
- Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams
- Must have a right to work in the UK currently
- Proven experience in working to British and European design standards and codes
- Experience of providing engineering inputs to OHL construction activities including the planning and delivery of OHL construction
- Understanding of engineering management including schedule and cost management
- Experience supporting tendering activities
- Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagements
