Wood is looking for a Planner to support our offshore team on a full‑time basis on a Fixed Term Contract, PAYE or PSC contract for 6 months. This role is based at our clients' offices in either Aberdeen or Barrow-in-Furness and will ideally involve experience in an offshore environment.

The planner will prepare, review and report accurate project schedules and plans to support robust project control throughout the project lifecycle. Duties include ensuring schedules and plans meet contractual requirements and Wood & Client policies, supporting the Offshore Planning team, managing project scheduling documentation, and acting as a focal point for several offshore project scopes.

The Operated Assets Service Line delivers operations services in the energy sector, including duty holder, managed service and TAR delivery, to 10 UK customers. Our long‑term contracts provide a stable pipeline of work for the next three years and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain planning control structures aligned with the approved Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Create and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software
  • Monitor and control planning activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction and other functions, including third parties, to track project activity and impact on schedule and manpower
  • Prepare and distribute project plans and schedules per reporting requirements
  • Prepare and distribute progress and performance status reports per reporting requirements
  • Issue updates to project plans, schedules and manpower requirements
  • Assess and communicate schedule impact of change notifications
  • Monitor overall project progress, milestone achievement and evaluate performance against planned metrics
  • Attend internal project progress and performance status meetings as required
  • Collaborate with cost discipline to forecast man‑hour budgets and incorporate change impacts into schedules
  • Participate in schedule risk analysis and Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement Reviews

Deliverable Standards

  • Project schedules must comply with the approved contract, WBS and reporting calendar
  • Schedules should be logically linked, display critical path and total float for all activities
  • Baseline approval must coincide with client funding approval
  • All schedules must reflect resources according to corporate standards
  • Work pack delivery milestones should be clearly identified within schedules
  • A standard set of agreed milestones must be maintained in both the schedule and the cost reporting database

Qualifications

What makes you remarkable?

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent vocational/industrial experience) in a technical or business discipline
  • Relevant scheduling/planning experience, preferably offshore
  • Proficient with Primavera and other scheduling tools, including logic and CPM analysis, resource loading and leveling
  • Knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Scheduling
  • Understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities
  • Ability to develop and maintain project schedules and plans
  • Capability to prepare resource loading, progress and staffing plans
  • Proficiency in earned‑value, cost and schedule variance analysis, trending and what‑if scenarios
  • Strong grasp of project management principles and techniques
  • Solid knowledge of cost management, change control, planning and risk analysis & management
