Wood is recruiting for a Noise Consultant to join the growing acoustics team, based in Glasgow. This is a varied role which will allow you to apply your acoustics experience or enhance your skills and continue to develop and shape your career; affording good opportunities within a dynamic consultancy, involved in the whole lifecycle of projects.

The Noise Consultant will contribute to the growth and development of the business and undertake technical project work on a variety of projects. This role is based in Glasgow with hybrid working and reports to the Noise and Vibration Team Lead.

The Role
The primary focus of the Noise Consultant will be noise calculation, prediction and assessment as well as conducting noise and vibration measurement surveys. The Noise Consultant will also be responsible for processing data, preparing noise input for environmental impact assessments, and reviewing technical reports.

The noise team provide a broad range of services ranging from noise surveys, monitoring and prediction, environmental assessment, input to planning applications (EIA), and to detailed design of engineering noise controls. The team has fundamental acoustics, industry experience and an appreciation for practical concerns faced by operators and designers.
We conduct work on a variety of projects associated with industrial sites, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, oil and gas, construction sites, infrastructure, and maintenance operations.
The noise and vibration team are based in Glasgow, the majority of work undertaken is UK based; however, we also deliver work for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Supporting offices within Australia, America, and Canada, delivering noise projects worldwide.

Expected:
- Degree or similar in acoustics/engineering related field
- Proven technical ability in terms of problem solving and analytical thinking
- Ability to write technical reports
- Ability to manage time, resources and projects effectively
- Willing and able to work within team environment and involve others where necessary
- Full UK driving license
- IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control
- Understanding and applying relevant UK noise policy, regulations and standards
- Experience with acoustic modelling software SoundPLAN / CadnA
- Experience in the measurement and analysis of noise and/or vibration
- Experience with GIS software
- Experience with coding (Python) / MATLAB
- Associate (AMIOA) or full membership (MIOA) of the IOA / or CEng status (or working towards)
