Acoustics Consultant in Manchester

The Opportunity

Wood is currently recruiting for a Noise and Vibration Consultant, to work in our Manchester or London office. The successful candidates will work alongside our technical specialists in the Environment and Infrastructure team, centred in Manchester and represented across the UK. Our Noise and Vibration team has over the last 15 years become one of the UK's leading acoustic consultancies working on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects in the transportation and energy sectors. Key clients include organisations such as EDF Energy, High Speed 2, National Grid and Homes England. The position would be based on a flexible working pattern with at least part time being office based. Our current Noise team members are based in the Manchester, Bristol and London offices, and although the position will initially be based in Manchester or London, there may be opportunity to move to one of our other established offices.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for delivering the technical aspects of a variety of noise and vibration assessments, the management of internal client relationships and the preparation of proposals and bids appropriate to your grade.
• The workload is diverse, including small local level schemes through to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, with a significant proportion of our current work being in the clean energy arena.

Qualifications

• Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Acoustics or a related discipline
• Relevant post-qualification experience
• A Corporate or Associate Member of the Institute of Acoustics
• Full driving licence
• Good standard of spoken English and high levels of literacy and numeracy
• A flexible approach and eagerness to learn are vital for the role.
• Experience of the following is desirable:
• Management of small sized projects
• Variety of experience on transportation or energy projects
• Noise modelling of transportation or energy schemes
• Good understanding of relevant UK noise policy and regulations
• Application of noise and vibration expertise to support the planning process
• Construction noise assessment and management
• Use of Geographical Information Systems, with noise or vibration modelling integration
• Evidence of using innovation to improve working practices
