Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world. Wood is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer assigned to the Operations, Process and Energy function based at our client terminal in the North West of England.
The Role
Provide structural engineering support for inspection‑identified anomalies and Repair Orders across client terminal and offshore assets. Responsible for developing structurally compliant repair proposals, completing calculations, supporting drawings, and guiding repairs through the RO workflow from inspection to construction close‑out.

Responsibilities
Structural Assessment & Engineering Definition
- Review inspection‑identified anomalies via IQI ONE and SAP notifications (per RO workflow)
- Perform structural assessments, confirm problem definition, and determine appropriate repair methodology (FM/AI/ENG path)
- Provide clear engineering instructions to OIE, RO Engineer and Construction Supervisor (OCS) during early scoping stages
- Identify when external engineering support is required and prepare Scope of Work packages accordingly
Design & Deliverables
- Produce structural calculations, design notes, sketches, and formal engineering drawings required for AFC (Approved for Construction) issue
- Review and comment on external engineering deliverables (calculations, drawings) for compliance, quality and site practicality
- Ensure all designs comply with “Asset Integrity Repair Standard” CSL‑OMS‑00633 and relevant codes
- Provide structural input into materials selection, isolations, constructability, and temporary works requirements
Repair Order Workflow Support
- Support the RO Planner, OIE and OCS through the full RO lifecycle (initiation → 35D readiness → 14D gate → execution → close‑out)
- Liaise with onshore Delivery Lead for planning, sequencing, and procurement inputs
- Provide engineering clarification during construction, including offshore queries, site measurements, and as‑found condition changes
- Support readiness reviews (IAP, SPOPE, materials, constructability) when structural input is required
Offshore & Onshore Engagement
- Attend Barrow Terminal as required for surveys, constructability reviews, and inspection walkdowns
- Travel offshore to assets to support anomaly verification, gather structural data, and advise on execution
- Interface with OIE, Inspection RAT, Construction Supervisors, Services Delivery Lead, and scaffold teams to provide engineering inputs essential for safe delivery
Safety, Assurance & Close‑out
- Ensure all structural repair proposals are safe, compliant, and risk‑assessed
- Participate in technical assurance and engineering reviews
- Support close‑out stages, verifying structural completion where required and ensuring all documentation is updated (SAP WO, IQI ONE, AFC/AIF files)
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities as required by the RO Process workflow

- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience in brownfield modifications, structural repairs, or topside structural engineering
- Familiarity with offshore/terminal assets, safety standards, and inspection techniques
- Ability to interpret inspection reports, structural degradation mechanisms, and site survey data
- Experience producing structural calculations, sketches, and engineering drawings
- Competence in relevant codes and standards (e.g., EN 1993/1994, ISO, offshore modules)
- Strong understanding of repair methods (FM/AI/ENG) and temporary works principles
- SAP experience beneficial; competency in IQI or similar anomaly management systems advantageous
- Ability to travel offshore and onshore as required
