Wood are seeking a Consultant to support Wood’s transport decarbonisation offer across our Sustainable Infrastructure business in the UK. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of transport decarbonisation technologies and options available to government clients. You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects across the UK and overseas, and will support the Transport Decarbonisation Technical Director with client engagement, bidding and project delivery. The workload is extremely varied covering all aspects of e-mobility and multi-modal studies including highways, cycling, walking and public transport.

Responsibilities- Support projects where data is key in delivery (e.g. demand and user analysis to identify the best EV infrastructure/ fleet deployment). An understanding of the available data to conduct demand and user analysis is important.
- Ensure effective collaboration across business areas within Wood when bidding and delivering projects.
- Further develop expertise in the area of alternative fuels, specifically hydrogen.
- Support the full bidding lifecycle when required.
- Support project delivery on time, to budget and above client expectations.
- Support the development of the Transport Decarbonisation pipeline, creating opportunities for new work and new clients.
- Keep up to date with market and industry best practice.
- Conduct market research and analysis on emerging technologies, and innovative business and customer solutions for the Transportation sector.
- Assist with technical writing of vehicle specifications, supply chain and business case for fleet and transportation operations.
- Transport planning, Engineering, Economics or related degree. Relevant postgraduate qualifications highly desirable.
- Relevant experience and understanding of low carbon transport technologies.
- Experience within a consultancy environment is a distinct advantage and Local Authority /Central Government experience is required.
- Experience of delivering smart-mobility projects.
- Experience in leading the preparation of bids and proposals.
- An understanding of transport modelling in relation to mobility solutions/ EV infrastructure/ fleets would be useful.
- Experience of researching and writing EV/ Mobility strategies for clients (e.g. local authorities) is essential.
- Experience/knowledge of the opportunities/challenges in deploying EV infrastructure in relation to power grids would be useful.
- Demonstrate a passion for transport decarbonisation in terms of helping meet broader societal/environmental/government goals with the ability to link transport decarbonisation projects and schemes directly back to policies and initiatives (e.g. transport and COP26).
- Understanding of Public Transit, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Energy Transition.
