Job Description:
Environmental Team Lead is a working role that is required to support with Wood UK operations and will champion Wood’s environmental strategy, ensuring alignment with HSSE policy obligations and contributing to the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
This position ensures effective governance of environmental risks and opportunities across all UK activities.
Ensure that operations maintain environmental licence to operate and maintain environmental credentials
to support clients in all jurisdictions in which they operate.
The role is responsible for the implementation of Wood’s environmental standards across the UK business. Collaborate with operations to achieve the highest standards of environmental stewardship, building an exemplary environmental reputation for Wood in the eyes of key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for environmental excellence, with a minimum of seven years’ experience in an operational environmental role—ideally within highly regulated industries. A strong understanding of the UK environmental regulatory framework and the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is essential.
The role will also provide environmental support across production, drilling, and decommissioning campaigns.
The Environmental Team Lead will drive continuous improvement, promote the highest standards of environmental stewardship, and collaborate with operational teams to build and maintain Wood’s reputation as a leader in environmental performance among key stakeholders.
They shall also support the implementation of Wood’s environmental strategy and HSSE Policy obligations.
- Offshore BOSIET and MIST.
- First and/or higher degree in environmental related discipline or at least seven years of environmental advisor experience.
- Trained and competent Internal Auditor.
- Professional membership of environmental body.
- Trained and competent External Auditor.
- Knowledge of the energy transition and emerging environmental trends
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Extensive experience working in a technical environmental advisory role with experience in project / contracts in Oil & Gas or other industry.
- Strong understanding of the UK environmental regulatory framework and Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
- Established competence in permit management – application compilation, submission, and associated reporting.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Collating and interpreting environmental performance data.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- On-site practical knowledge and experience (on and offshore and in asset lifecycle).
- Effective / competent MS Office Suite User.
- High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
