Overview

Wood is recruiting for two Lead Cost Controllers to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Lead Cost Controller will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business. There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday based out of Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. This position is for a minimum 6 month duration. Applicants must be able to pass the BPSS check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project budgets and track actual and forecasted costs.
  • Generate cost reports prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures and standards.
  • Act as the focal point for several project scopes and support the management and development of the Cost team, budgets, costs, and project cost documentation.
  • Manage cost on EPCm projects and, ideally, NEC4 contracts.
  • Review and maintain Project WBS and CBS, liaise with Planning, Procurement, Finance, time-capture functions, and third parties to ensure accurate cost capture and allocation.
  • Coordinate cost code allocation, initial budget setup and approvals; maintain project cost budgets using appropriate software.
  • Monitor and control cost commitments and expenditures through all project phases; provide cost performance reports as required.
  • Update project cost forecasts and report on cost impact of manpower forecasts and change notifications.
  • Coordinate change orders/variations and assess cost and schedule impact of changes.
  • Lead or participate in project cost performance meetings and mentoring of Cost personnel.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) or equivalent in a relevant technical or business discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of cost software and related budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow principles.
  • Understanding of EPCm Cost Management and NEC Contracting Mechanism.
  • Ability to mentor/train others and drive standardisation and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of change management, earned value, cost and schedule variance analyses, and what-if scenarios.
