Graduate Process Engineer Life Sciences

Wood is currently recruiting for a Process Engineering Graduate to join our Life Sciences Business. The roles will support our Darlington and Glasgow teams, beginning September 2022. You must have demonstrable passion along with the relevant experience of the pharmaceutical / life science industries you have gained through your studies or employment to date. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team as we develop and deliver Wood diversification strategy into life sciences.

You will have opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects with different clients including blue-chip pharmaceutical manufacturers, where you will gain valuable experience in the processes and systems used to be successful as an engineer in our life sciences team. In the role you will be involved throughout the full project and validation life cycle, design, installation, commissioning and qualification of equipment, utilities, and processes. The role will challenge and stimulate you to learn and to grow as a professional whilst contributing to the successful outcomes we deliver to our customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• It is essential you are educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in Chemical / Process / Bioprocess Engineering discipline, or have a degree, augmented by either:
• A Master’s degree level (or equivalent) postgraduate qualification in Chemical Engineering or Bioprocess Engineering discipline.
• A PhD (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or Bioprocess Engineering discipline.
• Any degree (Bachelor or Masters) MUST be accredited by the IChemE to be valid for this role.
• Studies in biochemical/ pharmaceutical/ life sciences is preferable, this can either be by degree specialisation or modules within a degree. However, this is not required in the case that you have demonstrable industrial experience in the life science industry.
• A thorough understanding is essential of:
• Process engineering design.
• GMP regulatory considerations including validation.
• Safety requirements including pressure systems, HAZOP and contained processing aspects.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional institution i.e., IChemE is something the candidate will be expected to pursue.

Other Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Relevant work experience within in life sciences is preferable.
• Proficient user of Excel and other Microsoft software.
• Good communication skills essential.
• Good at growing networks, ability to work as a team or on their own.
• Self-motivated with a growth and learning mindset.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environments.
• Must have the right to work in UK.
