Wood is seeking experienced Shutdown General Assistants to support a planned outage based onsite in Teesside. This is a hands on role suited to highly skilled General Assistants with proven experience working within fast‑paced shutdown environments, carrying out high‑quality work on critical plant equipment. Candidates must be safety‑focused, quality‑driven, and comfortable working in demanding environments, including confined spaces and at height, while delivering work to tight shutdown schedules.
Purpose / Role
To provide general assistance services to the project in support of safe delivery of project workscope.
Responsibilities
- Assist trade personnel in the completion of their duties, e.g., carrying and fetching.
- Prepare and maintain the worksite in line with supervisor’s instructions.
- Assist with general housekeeping, ensuring a safe, clean and tidy area is maintained at all times.
- Follow the schedule communicated by the supervisor.
- Support the main activity by obtaining the necessary tools and materials and then assisting the trade personnel under their guidance and instruction.
- Within the general/craft assistant’s ability, deal with any minor issue that prevents completion of the task.
- Proactively seek additional tasks where time permits.
- Adhere to all company policies, working practices and procedures as communicated by the company from time to time.
Qualifications
You are an experienced General assistant with a strong background in industrial shutdowns, power generation, energy, petrochemical, or heavy process environments. You have proven experience and can consistently produce work to the highest quality standards under demanding outage schedules.
Essential
- Wood mandatory training, induction, risk awareness, etc.
- CCNSG safety passport.
- Working at heights and confined space will be a requirement for this position.
