Expression of Interest - Construction Manager SWP Jacket

Wood is currently bidding for a project and if awarded the work, we will have a requirement for a Construction Manager. If successful the role will be based in a European location.

Job Objective: CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Representing the customer, the Construction Manager – Senior – SWP Jacket will use customer in-house construction management procedures and combined with their own experience to provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control.

Responsible for management and execution of construction of the circa 8000t steel 100m water depth Shallow Water Platform (SWP) Jacket, barge launched, buoyancy aided, crane assist upending with 4000t of 84” skirt piles in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the contractor, and in accordance with the clients operating policies and principles. Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project. Manages and controls construction cost and schedule. Senior management position requiring a very highly experienced professional with considerable experience with steel offshore structure fabrication.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of construction management project of moderate size and complexity.
• Accountable for the overall contract construction effort; including safety, planning, cost and delivery of all field works on the Contract.
• Accountable for supervising, organizing and coordinating head office, and site construction to provide high quality support.
• Responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings.
• Ensure work pack and material delivery aligns with construction mobilization.
• Provide construction expertise during FEED, Detail Design, in the form of constructability reviews, scope minimization and ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods adopted.
• Actively engages with the contractors to ensure seamless delivery at site(s).
• Engages with individual project teams to ensure correct level and sequence of Work Breakdown Structure adopted at project kick-off.
• Ensure all Site activities are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner with integrity and quality delivering HS&E targets.
• Oversight of home office team to ensure quality construction input to the integrated engineering and planning processes.
• Delivery of site teams to meet Client’s business schedules.
• Delivery of reduced costs at site by continual review of performances and improvements by the site teams.
• Ensure the site construction process with regard to the provision and use of corporate and project specific procedures, processes and systems.
• Monitor the competency and training requirements of all construction personnel.
• Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control.
• Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions.
• Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site.
• Utilise Commercial processes to capture variations effectively.
• Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.

Qualifications:

• Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelors) in engineering or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a considerable amount of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry.
• Proven experience in the management of office, onshore and/or offshore site construction and commissioning teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to manage 100-500 construction personnel covering professional, trade and direct sub contractors and keep the entire team safe.
• Demonstrates ability to develop long and short-term service relationships that are cost efficient.
