Wood is currently sourcing Expression of Interest applications for an upcoming Construction Manager position to be located in North East England. Please note this is not a live position. This is a key position across established client sites and facilities within the Teesside Area.
The role will lead the Construction team ensuring project scope is completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards for high‑profile clients.
The Role
- Manage and lead a team of construction staff to develop project execution strategies, the path of construction, and the project specific construction documentation and deliverables, including Constructability Reviews, Construction Methodologies and associated Risk Assessment or HAZCON.
- Support and ensure collaboration with discipline managers and interfaces with other departments.
- Support estimating and development of robust project estimates and execution schedules.
- Assure the quality and integrity of the project, bringing the project in on schedule and within budget.
- Use client and in‑house construction management procedures, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable controls.
- Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
- Manage and control construction cost and schedule of onsite construction, managing installation, commissioning and completion activities for hardware, plant and equipment.
- Oversee total field construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule and comply with client specifications and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of construction management.
- Accountable for the overall contract construction effort, including safety, planning, cost and delivery of all field works on the Contract.
- Accountable for supervising, organising and coordinating site construction and coordinating with the Home Office, Client, Vendor and Commissioning teams to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract.
- Responsible for ensuring full construction integration to project delivery by encouraging regular engineering, procurement and construction interface meetings.
- Provide construction expertise during Detail Design, in the form of constructability reviews, scope minimisation and ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods adopted.
- Ensure all Site activities are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner with integrity and quality delivering HS&E targets.
- Oversight of home office team to ensure quality construction input to the integrated engineering and planning processes.
- Delivery of site teams to meet Client’s business schedules.
- Accountable for managing, supervising, organising and co‑ordinating site construction teams to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance on all construction related activities.
- Performance reporting to Project management, ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
- Set and apply strategic and tactical direction regarding policy/procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting.
- Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control.
- Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required.
- Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline/subset of onsite construction.
- Utilise Commercial processes to capture variations effectively.
Qualifications
- Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- Vocational Qualification such as NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management an advantage.
- A recognised HSE qualification is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Appropriate level of Construction Management experience, typically gained through extensive post‑qualification experience in a relevant industry.
- Extensive and demonstrable experience in the management of multi‑disciplined projects in the Oil and Gas, Gas Processing or other relevant process industries.
- Proven experience in the management of home office, site construction and commissioning teams.
- Exposure and familiar with working within a technical environment.
- Demonstrable experience of leading Constructability and Construction Readiness Reviews.
- Experience of people management in a construction context.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong effective delegation skills.
- Accomplished in the use MS Office suite and familiar with other software packages.
- Experience with Completions Management Systems and processes through to completion and handover to commissioning.
