Overview

Discipline Head-Mechanical role at Wood, responsible for engineering delivery and performance within the discipline group.

Responsibilities

  • Drive HSSEA culture and performance through the assigned discipline group.
  • Ensure discipline engineering integrity is maintained across work scopes.
  • Drive continual focus on process safety through the discipline engineering team.
  • Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned and best practice from across the organisation in the discipline engineering team.
  • Support technical assurance activities, including conducting audits and participating in technical incident investigations.
  • Provide discipline personnel to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures and within customer requirements.
  • Manage departmental overhead budgets and resource utilization vs workload.
  • Support Head of Engineering to prepare short-term and annual workforce plans to identify the number and mix of staff required to meet the demand forecast.
  • Collaboratively produce discipline input to engineering execution plans with other discipline managers.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost‑effective and competitive engineering execution.
  • Plan and prioritise work to meet discipline commitments aligned with organizational goals and ensure resources are available to complete plans.

Qualifications

  • ISCED Level 6 / Bachelor\’s (minimum) or Level 7 / Master\’s (preferred) degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Chartership with a relevant professional body / Professional Engineer License or equivalent.
  • Extensive broad and deep experience of engineering delivery in one or more relevant industry sectors.
  • Expert level experience and understanding of discipline engineering tools and processes.
  • Broad understanding of the business drivers for relevant industry sector clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to balance needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to attract top talent and develop talent using coaching, mentoring and formal performance processes.
  • Experience in developing talent and implementing competence assurance for the discipline group.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering delivery across relevant sectors and disciplines.
