Wood is recruiting for a Decommissioning Onshore Site Lead to support the decommissioning team based at Point of Ayr, Talacre, North Wales on a fixed term staff basis. This is a site based role.

The Role

  • You will be maintaining client company local oversight and scrutiny of the Point of Ayr decommissioning project.
  • This will be achieved by attendance of daily site coordination meetings, compilation and submission of regular reports and critical updates, attendance of main contractor site safety tours, commission and perform company audits on main and sub-contractors in relation to decommissioning activities.
  • Compile/Audit monthly data relating to principal contractor’s site surface water management in relation to compliance with the existing legacy environmental permit.

Responsibilities

  • Attendance of site-based meetings where a decommissioning company representative is required.
  • Provide frequent reports detailing specific progress against provided schedule, report and detail any delays to activities and provide informed amendments based on site communications.
  • Attend site safety tours and safety committee meetings to represent decommissioning client, reinforcing company’s HSE performance expectations.

    • Document key information relating to contractor decommissioning activity and promptly share with company decommissioning team.
    • In the event of any audit or finding that identifies a non‑compliance against legal or regulatory limits, promptly notify relevant company persons and provide support to the consequential process.
    • In relation to site visits, provide logistical support to visiting decommissioning team and coordinate any site requirements for company visitors (i.e. booking site induction, relaying PPE requirements etc).
    • Provide HSE oversight and support to subcontracted onshore decommissioning activities, applying working knowledge of UK HSE legal requirements and best practices.
    • Ensure remaining compliance requirements under client POA site environmental permit are complied with, and that all HSE data needed by the client is provided.
    • Verify that waste management practices (segregation, storage, transfer notes) meet regulatory requirements and permit obligations.
    • Ensure environmental monitoring data (e.g. groundwater, surface water) is collected, validated, and submitted to Client for regulatory reporting.
    • Ensure onshore decommissioning activities are conducted according to Contractor operational procedures and regulatory permits and consents.
    • Ensure thorough application of Contractor’s HSE management system and contract’s HSE clauses and documentation (e.g. HSE Plan, Subcontractors’ Declarations, etc.).
    • Report any HSE/regulatory compliance issues identified to client and ensure contractor fully investigates them, setting appropriate corrective actions.
    • Conduct periodic audits of contractor activities, ensuring HSE/regulatory compliance matters are included.
    • Participate to incident investigations, as required.
    • Organise regular HSE meetings with Contractor’s representatives (including, at a minimum, the Contractor’s Site Managers) to conduct a comprehensive review of their HSE performance.
    • Support Contractor with the roll out of Client‑led HSE campaigns and initiatives to the site, including promoting environmental awareness and communicating Environmental Golden Rules.

    Qualifications

    • Significant Experience in Production Plant Operations.
    • NVQ Level 3 Plant Operations/Deemed Equivalent and higher.
    • Knowledge and application of CDM.
    • Significant Construction/Deconstruction Supervision experience.
    • Knowledge of UK oil & gas industry required.
    • Leadership and management experience in an onshore production facility.
    • Knowledge of application of HSE Management Systems in an Offshore and Onshore Hydrocarbon Facility.
