Responsibilities
- Develop project execution strategies, path of construction and the supporting project construction documentation and deliverables, including Constructability Reviews, Construction Methodologies and associated Risk Assessment or HAZCON.
- Support and ensure collaboration with discipline managers and interfaces with other departments. Support estimating and development of robust project estimates.
- Assure the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Use client and in-house construction management procedures, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable controls.
- Execute work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project. Manage and control construction cost and schedule of onsite construction, managing installation, commissioning and completions activities for hardware, plant and equipment.
- Oversee total field construction effort to ensure large projects or several smaller projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule and comply with GMP within a Pharmaceutical Environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Accountable for managing, supervising, organising and coordinating site construction teams to provide high quality support in accordance with the Contract.
- Work with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum outcomes.
- Execute assigned scopes of work in a timely manner and within KPI schedules.
- Manage and lead all construction reports to ensure delivery against milestones and KPIs.
- Review planned activities for constructability, provide accurate feedback and direction.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on all construction activities; monitor progress and report against plan.
- Set and apply strategic and tactical direction regarding policy/procedures, workforce staffing, and budgeting.
- Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities are defined and communicated; initiate safety and quality processes including toolbox talks and risk controls.
- Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, site accommodation and other project-specific requirements in line with client/contract specifications and applicable policies.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate training for safe, legal and competent work, including inductions.
- Understand and manage the industrial relations environment; report issues as required.
- Utilise commercial processes to manage change and capture variations effectively; support commissioning strategy for the contract.
Qualifications
- Typically, minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma) or equivalent.
- Vocational Qualification such as NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management (advantage).
- HSE qualification desirable (IOSH or similar).
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Minimum around 10 years of post-qualification field construction experience in a relevant industry.
- Knowledge of GMP within a Pharmaceutical Environment.
- Experience managing multi-disciplined projects in pharmaceutical, batch chemical production or related industries.
- Excellent communication and delegation skills.
- Experience in a technical environment with constructability and readiness reviews.
- Experience in people management within construction; good computer literacy (MS Office).
- Some experience with Completions Management Systems and processes through to handover.

- Well organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of leadership and meeting timelines.
- Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required.
