Wood UK Operations is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent with demonstrable experience of civils, structural steel and architectural or building works. The role involves overseeing and coordinating on-site activities to ensure project scope is completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards for a high-profile client.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage, supervise, organise and coordinate site construction team to provide high quality support in accordance with the contract.
  • Interface with engineering during design phases to influence design for optimum constructability.
  • Participate in HSE activities, promoting HSE elements throughout construction including all CDM duty holder responsibilities, managing SSOW and setting to work processes.
  • Execute work in accordance with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Support inspection and surveillance activities, complete QC related tasks.
  • Lead civil construction contractors to ensure delivery against milestones.
  • Review planned activities for constructability, provide accurate feedback and direction.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on construction related activities.
  • Generate performance reports to site management and monitor progress against plan.
  • Monitor and report project cost and schedule of assigned discipline/subset.
  • Define, communicate, and initiate safety, quality, and environmental processes, including toolbox meetings and inspections.
  • Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, site accommodation and other project-specific requirements.
  • Understand and manage the industrial relations environment, reporting issues as required.
  • Utilise commercial processes to manage change and capture variations effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualified to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Or trade qualifications with proven experience in managing construction activities, with substantial experience managing civil scopes of work on dynamic projects.
  • A recognised HSE qualification is desirable (IOSH or similar).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Appropriate level of field construction experience.
  • Knowledge of construction workpack processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in the execution of multi-disciplined projects in the process and energy sectors or other relevant industries.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong delegation skills.
  • Experience working within a field construction environment.
  • Experience of constructability and construction readiness reviews.
  • Experience of people management in a construction context.
  • Good standard of general computer literacy including MS Office suite.
  • Some experience with completion and handover processes through to construction completion.
